1. ما بِالمَنازِلِ لَو سَأَلتَ أَحَد

    وَلَقَد يَكونُ هَوَي بِهِنَّ وَوَد

    The dwellings, if you were to ask someone about them

    And he may be infatuated with them and fond of them

  2. أَزمانَ أَمرَحُ في زَمانِ صِباً

    أَجري إِلى اللَهوِ وَلَستُ أُرَد

    I had the most playful times during the days of youth

    I would rush to entertainment and not hold back

  3. وَالدَهرُ لا تُمحى مَلاحَتُهُ

    في أَعصُرٍ أَيّامُهُنَّ جُدُد

    Time does not erase its joys

    Its days are renewed in eras

  4. عِزٌّ بِفَجعِ الدَهرِ مُتَّبِعٌ

    لِلَّهوِ حَتّى قامَ بي وَقَعَد

    Glory pursues the joys of time

    To entertainment, until it stood with me and sat down

  5. في غَفلَةٍ لا هَمَّ يَعرِفُها

    فَطَفِقتُ أَهزِلُ بِالزَمانِ وَجَد

    In a heedlessness that no concern recognizes

    So I started to joke with time, vigorously
