وَفِتيانِ لَهوٍ غَدَوا لِلصَبو
حِ وَقَد قَدَحَ اللَيلُ فَجراً وَأَورى
Playful youth set out at dawn
As night sparked the dawn aflame
نَدامى فَلا ذا يُماري لَذا
وَلا ذاكَ يَجلُسُ عَن ذاكَ دورا
Regretful, yet who can resist such delight
Or abstain when called again
بِدَيرِ المَطيرَةِ نُقرى المُدا
مَ لَدى القَسِّ لَمّا أَتَيناهُ زَورا
At the Monastery of Rain we visited
The priest when we came unannounced
إِذا ما طَعَنّا بُطونَ القَنا
ني سارَ دَمُ الكَرمِ عَنهُنَّ سَورا
When we stabbed the bellies of jugs
The generous blood flowed freely
كَأَنَّ خَراطيمَها في الزُجاجِ
خَراطيمُ فَحلٍ يُنَقّينَ ثَورا
As if their spouts in glass
Were the horns of a bull pouring wine
