Drink from a cup in the hands of a pampered peacock
Immersed in luxury, soaked in bliss
Long have I stood waiting for him
For a tryst imprisoned in promises
In my hands I have nothing of him but the grasp of my hands
And perhaps in love, many fortunes are ill-omened
His waist did not lack belts
From drawing swords and carrying daggers
A gazelle who sees its glance so stones it
Yet he is a fierce, unbroken lion
The young man cannot hope to gain him
Even if granted the throne of Bilqis
O Lord, hasten what relief You see fit
And relieve my distress with solace
How long will I rave confused
Like one insane, possessed
