Spring came to you in the early dawn
And the morning chill graced your coat
Cloaks held tight to a man
When he travels for need or wakes early
The earth disgorged its treasures
In strands or heaps
Fortune's scales are now balanced
With no heat or cold in them
My friends drank their fill and slept
In their dens like unmoving chicks
As if they had scattered amongst themselves
A blaze with hands on fire
