1. قَد صَدَ قَلبي قَمَرُ

    يَسحَرُ مِنهُ النَظَرُ

    My heart was fascinated by the moon,

    Which enchants the eyes with its splendor.

  2. وَقَد فَنَيتُ بَعدَهُ

    وَضاعَ ذاكَ الحَذَرُ

    After it disappeared I was lost,

    And all caution was abandoned.

  3. بِوَجنَةٍ كَأَنَّما

    يَقدَحُ مِنها الشَزَرُ

    With cheeks that seem to sparkle,

    And a drinker who has intended or slept

  4. وَشارِبٍ قَد هَمَّ أَو

    نَمَّ عَلَيهِ الشَعَرُ

    While poetry covers him.

    His eyelids are weak,

  5. ضَعيفَةٌ أَجفانُهُ

    وَالقَلبُ مِنهُ حَجَرُ

    And his heart is stone.

    It's as if his glances

  6. كَأَنَّما أَلحاظُهُ

    مِن فِعلِهِ تَعتَذِرُ

    Apologize for his actions.

    I have not seen a face like this

  7. لَم أَرَ وَجهاً مِثلَ ذا

    نَجا عَلَيهِ بَشَرُ

    That mankind could survive its harm.
