My Lord, grant me from your right hand a robe

Of brocade to wear, crafted with great care

To protect me from harsh, bone-chilling cold

And to wrap my every limb and every joint

Your right hand flows with bounty and gems

And strikes down enemies with sword and blade

My poetry in praise of you exceeds all poets'

And my verses for you surpass all works

So I suppose you to have abundant favor

And I adorn the necks of mankind with grace

Live on, O son of the Sultan, in power and honor

Moving with ease, shod in glory and might
