فَلا وَاللَهِ ما تَدري مَعيصٌ

أَسَهلٌ بَطنُ مَكَّةَ أَم يَفاعُ

No, by Allah you do not know, Ma'ees,

Is the belly of Mecca easier or Yafa'u,

وَكُلُّ مُحارِبٍ وَبَني نِزارٍ

تَبَيَّنَ في مَشافِرِهِ الرِضاعُ

And every warrior and the sons of Nizar,

Their nursing was evident in their teeth,

وَما جُمَحٌ وَلَو ذُكِرَت بِشَيءٍ

وَلا تَيمٌ فَذَلِكُمُ الرِعاعُ

And Jumah, even if mentioned in anything,

Nor Taim, so those are the rabble,

لِأَنَّ اللُؤمَ فيهِم مُستَبينٌ

إِذا كانَ الوَقائِعُ وَالمِصاعُ

Because the cowardice in them is evident,

When situations and contention happen,

وَمَخزومٌ هُمُ وَعَدِيُّ كَعبٍ

لِئامُ الناسِ لَيسَ لَهُم دِفاعُ

And Makhzum they and Adi Ka'b,

The ignoble people, they have no defense.
