The heart has almost turned away from her

Words that changed poetry pour from her

O Zayd, O chief carpenter, there is news

Of what your people did to Uthman

And O Zayd I have a need to mention

I have not fulfilled it though our people wandered

I see them wearing a garment that will destroy them

And youths they did not look at wisely

O Zayd, can you before a perishing

Ignite the fire in their courts aflame

O Zayd, advise them with an opinion to live by

O Zayd, Zayd son of the carpenter self-contained

O Zayd, bring out the carpenter’s sons when blinded

And reject the factions of Ghassan who came later
