1. إِنَّ اِمرَأً أَمسى وَأَصبَحَ سالِماً

    مِنَ الناسِ إِلّا ما جَنى لِسَعيدُ

    A man may pass the night and see the morn

    Secure from men's assaults, save what's foredoomed;

  2. وَإِنَّ اِمرَأً نالَ الغِنى ثُمَّ لَم يُنِل

    قَريباً وَلا ذا خُلَّةٍ لَزَهيدُ

    And he in easy plenty may be drowned,

    Yet neither kith nor kin afford him calm;

  3. وَإِنَّ اِمرَأً عادى الرِجالَ عَلى الغِنى

    وَلَم يَسأَلِ اللَهَ الغِنى لَحَسودُ

    And he may war on men in prideful mood,

    Yet not implore from Allah wealth and weal.
