لَعَمرُ أَبي سُمَيَّةَ ما أُبالي
أَنَبَّ التَيسُ أَم نَطَقَت جُذامُ
By my father Sumayya, I don't care
If the goat bleated or the leper spoke,
إِذا ما شاتُهُم وَلَدَت تَنادَوا
أَجَديٌ تَحتَ شاتِكِ أَم غُلامُ
When their mothers give birth, they cry out,
"My oldest, are you under your mother a boy or a girl?"
