أَلا أَبلِغِ الضَحّاكَ أَنَّ عُروقَهُ

أَعيَت عَلى الإِسلامِ أَن تَتَمَجَّدا

Shall I not tell Al-Dahhak that his veins

are exhausted with Islam from excelling?

أَتُحِبُّ يُهدانَ الحِجازَ وَدينَهُم

كَبِدَ الحِمارِ وَلا تُحِبُّ مُحَمَّدا

Do you like the Hijaz and their religion

like the liver of a donkey, yet dislike Muhammad?

وَإِذا نَشا لَكَ ناشِئٌ ذو غِرَّةٍ

فَهُّ الفُؤادِ أَمَرتَهُ فَتَهَوَّدا

Whenever a youth with a sharp tongue arises for you

you beguile him, so he becomes calm and gentle.

لَو كُنتَ مِنّا لَم تُخالِف دينَنا

وَتَبَعتَ دينَ عَتيكَ حينَ تَشَهَّدا

If you were one of us, you would not oppose our religion,

and would have followed your father's religion when he became a Muslim.

ديناً لَعَمرُكَ ما يُوافِقُ دينَنا

ما اِستَنَّ آلٌ بِالبَدِيِّ وَخَوَّدا

By your life! Your religion does not conform with ours,

Not one house stands by Al-Badi and Khawwad.
