1. لَوَ اِنَّ اللُؤمَ يُنسَبُ كانَ عَبداً

    قَبيحَ الوَجهِ أَعوَرَ مِن ثَقيفِ

    If cowardice could be ascribed, he’d be

    A slave, ugly-faced, blind in one eye from Thaqif;

  2. تَرَكتَ الدينَ وَالإيمانَ جَهلاً

    غَداةَ لَقيتَ صاحِبَةَ النَصيفِ

    You abandoned faith and religion in ignorance

    The next morning after meeting the owner of the cloak;

  3. وَراجَعتَ الصِبا وَذَكَرتَ لَهواً

    مِنَ الأَحشاءِ وَالخَصرِ اللَطيفِ

    And you returned to youth and recalled in vain desire

    Of the belly and the delicate waist.
