أُترُكِ الناسَ فَلا تَشتُمهُمُ

وَإِذا سابَبتَ فَاِسبُب ذا حَسَب

Leave people be, do not insult them.

And if you must criticize, criticize one of merit.

إِنَّ مَن سَبَّ لَئيماً كَالَّذي

يَشتَري الصُفرَ بِعِقيانِ الذَهَب

Verily, he who insults a scoundrel is like one

Who buys brass with gold coins.
