1. تَأَمَّل لِما يَمضي مِنَ العُمرِ خِلسَةً

    وَلَيسَ بِخافٍ أَنَّهُ لَيسَ يَرجِعُ

    Observe how life slips by stealthily,

    And there is no doubt that it will not return.

  2. فَلا تَحرِ مِنَ النَفسِ شَيأً تُريدُهُ

    وَلا تَدَّخِر ما لَيسَ في القَبرِ يَنفَعُ

    So do not deprive yourself of what you desire,

    Nor hoard what will not benefit you in the grave.

  3. فَأَنتَ وَما تَحويهِ في اليَومِ أَوغَدَ

    سَحابَةً صَيفَ عَن قَليلِ تَقَشُّعُ

    You and what you contain are just

    A summer cloud that will soon dissipate.
