ناعِسُ الجَفنِ قالَ لي بِدَلالٍ
أَحَقيقٌ أَن لَيسَ يوجَدُ سِحرُ
A drowsy-eyed one said to me, coyly,
“Is it true that magic does not exist?”
قُلتُ هَذا رَأبي القَديمُ وَلَكِن
جِدلِيَ اليَومَ مِن عُيونِكَ أَمرُ
I said, “That was my old opinion—but
today, because of your eyes, a new thought has come to me.”
