Rejoice, Abu al-Khattab, and receive glad tidings of a birth—
a child has come to your son, his first rays radiant.
A crescent has appeared, shining, and you shall see him
grow in glory’s firmament and wax full like the moon.
Through Ibrahim you rise auspiciously—and how could it be otherwise?
The blessing of God’s Friend—and destiny brings him happiness.
Amid your might he grows, and beneath the shade of your glory
he lives happily, lofty in rank and consequence.
And this herald of good fortune spoke, marking the date:
“At Ibrahim’s advent, then Umar grew serene.”
