Defender of al-Ghariba’s domain, the gallant one whose
loftiness has raised its province to al-Suhā;
master of eloquence, open-handedness, and munificence,
garden of the emirate—its bough, indeed its rose—
he came to al-Buhayra, visiting in gracious favor;
his purpose most praiseworthy, and splendor adorned splendor.
He lit up its reaches, and his fragrance spread throughout;
through him, resident and guest alike rejoiced.
And the tongue of the visited one’s condition began to say:
“My prosperity, through Sa‘d al-Din—by God—has blossomed.”
