بَشَّرتُ يَوماً بِإِنجازٍ لِمَوهِبَةٍ

مِن سَيِّدِ قَدرِهِ في الناسِ قَد صَعَدا

I heralded one day the fulfillment of a gift

From the Lord of destiny among mankind it rose high

ثُمَّ اِنتَظَرَت لِإِقبالٍ أَفوزُ بِهِ

وَالصَدرُ مُنشَرِحٌ وَالعَجَبُ مَدَّ يَدا

Then I awaited the success I would attain with it

My chest expanded and amazement reached out its hand

قَمَرُ يَومٍ وَيَومانِ وَلا خَبَر

يَأتي وَلا أَثَرَ مِمّا يُرامُ بَدا

A month and two and no news comes

Nor a trace of what I hoped for appears

أَستَغفِرُ اللَهَ ما مَعنى مَقالَتِهِم

بُشرى فَقَد أَنجَزَ الإِقبالِ ما وَعَدا

I ask God's forgiveness, what do their words mean

Good tidings, fulfillment has come to what was promised
