1. حُزتَ بالكاظمينَ شأناً كبيرا

    فابقَ يا صحنُ آهلاً معمورا

    You were honored with the patient ones greatly

    So remain populated and inhabited, O courtyard

  2. فوق هذا البهاءِ تُكسي بهاءً

    ولهذي الأنوارِ تزدادُ نورا

    Above this beauty you are clothed with more beauty

    And for these lights you increase in light

  3. إنَّما أنت جنَّةٌ ضرب اللهُ

    عليها كجنَّة الخلدِ سورا

    You are but a garden upon which Allah has placed

    Like the garden of immortality, a fence

  4. إن تكن فُجِّرت بهاتيك عينٌ

    وبها يشربُ العباد نَميرا

    If springs were made to flow in you

    From which the servants drink fresh water

  5. فلكم فيك من عُيونٍ ولكن

    فُجّرت من حواسدٍ تفجيرا

    Then indeed you have in you springs, but

    They were made to flow by envious ones out of hatred

  6. فاخَرت أرضُك السماءَ وقالت

    إن يكن مفخرٌ فمنيّ استُعيرا

    So your land surpassed the sky and said

    If there is a boast, then it is borrowed from me

  7. أتباهينَ بالضُراحِ وعندي

    من غدا فيهما الضراحُ فخورا

    Do you boast about planets while I have

    What makes the planets proud tomorrow?

  8. بمصابيحيَ استضيء فمن شمسي

    يبدو فيكِ الصباحُ سَفورا

    My lamps illuminate you, so from my sun

    The morning appears radiant in you

  9. ولبيتي المعمور ربَّا معالٍ

    شرَّفا بيت ربّك المعمورا

    And for my inhabited House of God, the Lord of lords

    Has honored your inhabited House of your Lord

  10. لكِ فخرُ المحارةِ انفلقت عن

    دُرَّتين استقلَّتا الشمس نورا

    You have the pride of the shell that opened

    From two pearls that rivaled the sun in light

  11. وهما قُبَّتان ليست لكلِّ

    منهما قبَّةُ السماء نظيرا

    They are two domes that neither one of them

    Has a match like the dome of heaven

  12. صاغ كلتيهما بقدرتِه الصا

    ئغُ من نورِه وقال أنيرا

    He who has power over all created them with His ability

    Saying "Be," so they became luminous

  13. حولَ كلِّ منارة من التبرِ

    يجلّي سناهما الديجورا

    Around each minaret made of gold

    Their beauty manifests at daybreak and nightfall

  14. كبُرت كلُّ قُبَّةٍ بهما شأناً

    فأبدت عليهما التكبيرا

    Every dome became greater in status because of them

    Thus displaying exaltation over them

  15. فغدت ذاتَ منظرٍ لك تحكي

    فيه عذراءَ تستخفُّ الوقورا

    You became of a sight that tells

    Of a maiden who lightly steps with dignity

  16. كعروسٍ بَدت بقرطي نُضارٍ

    فملت قلبَ مجتليها سُرورا

    Like a bride who appeared with shiny earrings

    Filling the heart of her beholder with joy

  17. بُوركت من منائرٍ قد أُقيمت

    عُمداً تحملُ العظيم الخطيرا

    You were blessed with minarets erected

    As pillars carrying the Tremendous and Sublime

  18. رفعت قبَّةَ الوجودِ ولولا

    مُمسكاها لآذنت أن تمورا

    They raised the dome of existence, and had

    It not been for their Holder, it would have collapsed

  19. يا لك الله ما أجلَّك صَحناً

    وكفى بالجلال فيك خفيرا

    O Remover of disgrace, good tidings to you, you left

    Your ancient envious enemies stumbling

  20. حَرمٌ آمنٌ به أودَع اللهُ

    تعالى حجابه المستورا

    Who saw before you an uncle like your uncle?

    Kings' hoarding does not diminish his value

  21. طبتَ إمَّا ثراك مِسكٌ وإمَّا

    عَبَقُ المسكِ من شذاه استعيرا

    His open hands expanded in an era

    In which man was created stingy

  22. بل أراها كافورة حملتها

    الريحُ خُلدِيَّةً فطابت مسيرا

    He scattered springs whose runoff

    Made the existence laugh, illuminating the rugged terrain

  23. كلَّما مرَّت الصبا عرَّفتنا

    أنَّها جَددت عليك المرورا

    He hoarded the treasures of success in buildings he showed us

    Were his hidden treasures

  24. أينَ منها عطرُ الإِمامةِ لولا

    أنَّها قبَّلت ثراك العطيرا

    And we saw his generosity so we cried out

    Thus do the great kings give generously!

  25. كيف تحبيري الثناءَ فقل لي

    أنت ماذا لأُحسن التحبيرا

    He clothed these palaces with joy

    So he will be clothed with joy and enliven palaces

  26. صحنُ دارٍ أم دارةٌ نيّراها

    بهما الكونُ قد غدا مستنيرا

    Written upon its walls are “Ta Ha” and “The Mount” and “Hud” and “The Book”

    Raised upon its walls, visible

  27. إن أقل أرضُك الأثيرُ ثراها

    ما أراني مدحتُ إلاّ الأثيرا

    My prose description was confused in depicting it

    So this structure publishing it scattered it

  28. أنت طور النورِ الذي مذ تجلَّى

    لابن عمران دكَّ ذاك الطورا

    In its pages there is magic, but

    Its writing, since the eloquent saw it, was a scripture

  29. أنت بيتٌ برفعه أذِن اللهُ

    لفرهادَ فاستهلَّ سرورا

    Divert from me the sorcerers of beauty, and beware

    Of being lured by its magic and flying away

  30. وغدا رافِعاً قواعد بيتٍ

    طهَّر اللهُ أهله تطهيرا

    And speak of the excellence of Farhad, and see

    How from it you have spread a matching garden

  31. خيرُ صرح على يدي خيرِ مَلكٍ

    قدَّر اللهُ صنعه تقديرا

    An advisor in every matter, but

    For other than the sword, he did not seek advice

  32. تلك ذات العمادِ لو طاوَلته

    خرَّ منها ذاك العمادُ كسيرا

    In the heat of wars he grew up, and they were

    The most apparent forests in which he grew

  33. أو رأى هذهِ المباني كسرى

    لرأى ما ابتناه قدماً حقيرا

    He was brought up among the commons, so he was a cloud

    And was chosen among the elite, so he was pure

  34. ولنادى مُهنِّياً كلَّ من جاءَ

    من الفرسِ أوَّلاً وأخيرا

    His gown was filled with knowledge, forbearance,

    Firm wisdom, and abundant generosity

  35. قائلاً حسبكم بفرهاد فخراً

    لا تعدُّوا بهرام أو سابورا

    Do not assess the flow of his palm

    And the dew of his palm that extends the seas

  36. قد أقراً العيون منك بصنعٍ

    عاد طرفُ الإسلامِ فيه قريرا

    Rather the seas derive their streams

    From it - how many relied on it, so it flowed

  37. وبهذا البنا لكم شادَ مجداً

    لم يزل فيه ذكرُكم منشورا

    Generosity became scarce in our time, yet in

    Farhad, that scarcity became abundant

  38. وبعصرٍ سلطانُه ناصر الدين

    فأخلق بأن يباهي العُصورا

    How many necks, which he freed

    And which his gifts liberated, releasing them!

  39. قد حمى حوزةَ الهدى فيه ربٌّ

    قال كن أنت سيفَه المنصورا

    If we saw the stream of al-Mijarra initially

    As small enough for travelers to wade across

  40. مَلِكٌ عن أبٍ وعن حدِّ سيفٍ

    ورث الملكَ تاجهُ والسريرا

    Today it falls short of him. It stopped

    Short of a sea, no longer allowing crossing

  41. تحسنُ الشمسُ أن تشبَّه فيه

    لو أنارت عشيَّةً أو بكورا

    The Radiant sprinkled the Pleiades in the path

    Of his lofty court which amassed noble deeds

  42. يا مُقيل العِثار تُهنيك بُشرى

    تركت جدَّ حاسديك عَثورا

    And he became spreading with it a palm of generosity

    Which scattered the dead dew that was buried

  43. من رأى قبلَ ذا كعمِّك عمًّا

    ليس تُغني الملوك عنه نقيرا

    And he called out, “O highest hope, here are my fingers

    So milk them for the pure milk of generosity!”

  44. وسِعت راحتاه أيامَ عصرٍ

    لم يلدن الإنسان إلاَّ قَتورا

    And their udders burst forth with copious milk

    Not decreasing or running low

  45. بَثَّ أكرومةً تُريك المعالي

    ضاحكات الوجودِ تجلو الثغورا

    And leave others, for those are rivals

    Who leave the bow in your hands broken

  46. ذَخر الفوز في مبانٍ أرتنا

    أنَّه كان كنزَها المذخُورا

    And do not pressure the sinews, rather it is best

    If you make the sinews pliant twigs

  47. ونظرنا في بذلهِ فهتفنا

    هكذا تَبذِل الملوك الخطيرا

    Sa’d brought joy to the ears of time with singing praise of you

    Making whoever you wish hear it, even rocks

  48. قد كسى هذهِ المقاصرَ وشياً

    فسيُكسى وشياً ويحيى قصورا

    And turn to the town of nobles with your rhymes

    Congratulating and giving good tidings

  49. صاحِ والطورِ وهوذا وكتاب

    فوق جُدرانِه بدا مسطُورا

    Say to it, “You did not cease to be a paradise of intimacy

    In which people find bliss and blessings”

  50. إنَّما الرقُّ مُهرِقٌ خطَّ وصفي

    ذا البنا فيهِ فاغتدى منشورا

    We did not come under your protection except that we found

    A blessed town and a Forgiving Lord

  51. لك في دفَّتيه سحرٌ ولكن

    خطَّه مذ بَرى البليغَ زبورا

    And two Imams who save from the Fire

    Whoever in them turns protection-seeking

  52. فاروِ عنِّي سحارةَ الحسن واحذر

    لافتنانٍ بسحرِها أن تطيرا

    And a scholar who became a father to the children of knowledge

    And honored through it a caring father

  53. وتحدَّث بفضل فرهاد وانظر

    كيف منه نشرتَ روضاً نضيرا

    And a blossoming young man whose trails of piety

    Shook off the world though it was tempting

  54. مستشارٌ في كلِّ أمرٍ ولكن

    لسوى السيفِ لم يكن مُستشيرا

    How often we extended the steps of hands that showed us

    The most helpless of people when they prepared a helper!

  55. في حجور الحروب شبَّ وكانت

    أظهُرُ الصافناتِ تِلك الحجورا

    And Muhammad al-Hasan folded them,

    So his excellence remains renowned

  56. قد حبا في الملا فكان غماماً

    واجتبى في العُلى فكان ثَبيرا

    For in truth, he is the Shaykh of the party of truth

    And whoever says other than that, speaks falsehood

  57. مُلأت بُردتاهُ علماً وحلماً

    وحجى راسخاً وجُوداً غزيرا

    You were blessed in people, land and air

    How often we inhaled its camphor-like fragrance!

  58. لا تقس جودَ كفِّه بالغوادي

    وندى كفِّه يمدُّ البحورا

    Al-Mahdi protected you from being blamed

    And al-Mukhshi has spared you fears

  59. بل من البحرِ تستمدُّ الغوادي

    كم عليهِ تطفَّلت كي تميرا

    And from security he extended over you a shade

    And from pride he clothed you in splendor

  60. قَلَّ في عصرنا الكرامُ وفي فر

    هادَ ذاك القليلُ صار كثيرا

    Who competes with his loftiness, a great Shaykh

    And tribes have submitted to his smallness?

  61. كم رقابٍ أرقَّها ورقابٍ

    حرَّرتها هباتُه تحريرا

    We did not find a second to him who, in pride

    Was worthy and in praise was suited

  62. إن رأينا نهر المجرَّةِ قدماً

    عَبرته الشِعرى وكان صغيرا

    Other than ‘Abdul Hadi, his brother - my brother

    The sword in speech, analysis and resolve firmly

  63. فهي اليوم دونَهُ وقفت من

    دونِ بحرٍ فلا تُسمَّى العَبورا

    And my brother the rising sun, a rising

    That dazzles the sun when his shining face appears

  64. فَرش النيّرين كفّ الثريَّا

    في سماطي نادي عُلاه وثيرا

    And my brother, the rain, comfort

    That calms rain even if dense clouds compete with him

  65. وعليه اتكا بأعلى رواقٍ

    تخِذَ المكرمات فيه سميرا

    Two moons that illuminate the darkness and the branch of glory that bears fruit

    They protected within you the sanctuary of religion when

  66. وغدا باسطاً به كفَّ جودٍ

    نَشرت ميّت الندى المقبورا

    Many purchased from you the life of this world cheaply

    And they persevered with resolve that imprisons

  67. ودعا يا رجاءُ هاك بناني

    فاحتلبها لبونَ جُودٍ دَرورا

    Difficulties - with it they rebuild Moses' Mount

    Whoever sees the resolve that rebuilds mountains!

  68. وتشطَّر ضروعها حافلاتٍ

    لا ثلوثاً ولا نزوراً شطورا

    And palaces - if the ages strived for them

    They would despair and show incapacity

  69. واترك غيرها فتلك زَبون

    تدع القعبَ في يديك كسيرا

    The solidity of their building shakes the world

    Yet their construction remains for ages

  70. وعلى العصبِ لا تدرَّ فأولى

    لو جعلتَ العصاب عضباً طريرا

    They took charge of that construction with expertise

    Seeking only the Subtle, All-Aware

  71. سعدُ قرِّط مسامعَ الدهر إنشادَ

    ك تُسمِع من شئت حتَّى الصخورا

    Through it they were most careful for God

    And beyond the unseen, most pure in conscience

  72. وعلى بلدة الجوادين عرِّج

    بالقوافي مُهنّياً وبشيرا

    They exhausted themselves in serving the religion -

    God rewarded their efforts with gratitude

  73. قل لها لا برحتِ فردوس أُنسٍ

    فيك تلقى الناسُ الهنا والحُبورا

    They tired it so it may rest one day

    In which it attains its full reward

  74. ما نزلنا حِماك إلاَّ وجدنا

    بلداً طيباً وربًّا غفورا

    The likes of that good deed equals Hajj

    Since its equal was made wide and smooth

  75. وإمامين يُنقذان من النار

    لمن فيهما غدا مُستجيرا

    And God has promised that for each

    A paradise and silk attire will be prepared

  76. وعليماً غدا أباً لبني العلم

    وأكرِم به أبيًّا غيورا

    O courtyard! You never ceased to be for prayers

    And repentance, a mosque and purity

  77. وأغرًّا أذيالُ تقواهُ للنا

    س نفضن الدنيا وكانت غَرورا

    Remain as long as the mountains settled

    And your Builder remains, called to journey

  78. كم بسطنا الخطوب أيدٍ أرتنا

    أخذل الناس من أعدَّ نصيرا

    And perfume it with the fragrance of this poem

    You would think its words scattered pearls

  79. وطواها محمدُ الحسنُ الفعل

    فلا زالَ فضلهُ مشهورا

    It concludes as it began within you - you do not know

    Which of its aromas was more stimulating

  80. فهو في الحقِّ شيخُ طائفةِ الحقِّ

    ومن قال غير ذا قال زُورا

  81. طبتِ أهلاً وتربةً وهواءً

    كم نشقنا بجوِّه كافُورا

  82. قد حماكِ المهديُّ عن أن تضامي

    وكفاكِ المخشيَّ والمحذورا

  83. ومن الأمنِ مدَّ فوقك ظِلاًّ

    ومن الفخرِ قد كساكِ حَبيرا

  84. من يُسامي عُلاهُ شيخاً كبيراً

    وله دانت القُرومُ صغيرا

  85. لم نجد ثانياً له كان بالفخرِ

    خليقاً وبالثناءِ جديرا

  86. غير عبد الهادي أخيه أخي ال

    سيفِ مقالاً فصلاً وعزماً مبيرا

  87. وأخي الشمس طلعةً تُبهِت الشم

    سَ إذا وجههُ استهلَّ منيرا

  88. وأخي الغيثِ راحةً تخج

    ل الغيثَ ولو ساجلته نوءً غزيرا

  89. قمرا سُؤددٍ وفرعا معالٍ

    أثمرا أنجماً زهَت وبدورا

  90. حفظا فيكَ حوزة الدين إذ كم

    عنكَ ردَّا باعَ الزمان قصيرا

  91. واستطالا بهمَّةٍ يأسرانِ ال

    خطبَ فيها ويُطلقانِ الأسيرا

  92. فبها شيَّدا معاً طورَ مُوسى

    من رأى همَّةً تُشيد الطورا

  93. ومقاصيرَ لو تكلَّفها الدهرُ

    لأعيى عجزاً وأبدى القصورا

  94. محكماتِ البناءِ تنهدمُ الدنيا

    ويبقى بناؤهن دُهورا

  95. باشرا ذاك البناءَ بخُبر

    لم يريدا إلاَّ اللطيفَ الخبيرا

  96. فيه كانا أعفَّ في اللهِ كفًّا

    ووراءَ الغيوبِ أنقى ضميرا

  97. أجهداها في خدمة الدين نفساً

    شكرَ اللهُ سعيَها المشكورا

  98. أتعباها لتستريحَ بيومٍ

    فيه تلقى جزاءها موفورا

  99. يَعدِلُ الحجَّ ذلك العملُ الصالحُ

    إذ كان مثلُه مبرورا

  100. وعدَ اللهُ أن يُعِدَّ لكلٍّ

    منهما فيه جنَّةً وحريرا

  101. أيها الصحنُ لم تزل للمُصلَّى

    ومن الذنبِ مسجداً وطهورا

  102. دُمتَ ما أرستِ الجبالُ وباني

    كَ ليومِ يُدعى بها أن تسيرا

  103. واستطبها مِعطارةَ النظمِ منها

    تَحسبُ اللفظَ لؤلؤاً منثورا

  104. خُتِمت كافتتاحها فيك لا تعلم

    أيًّا شذاهُ أذكى عَبيرا
