جِرابُ حَظِّيَ قَد أَفرَغتُهُ طَمَعاً
بِبابِ أُستاذِنا الشيمي وَلا عَجَبا
I emptied my fate's purse in greedy hope
At our teacher Al-Shimmy's door, no wonder!
فَعادَ لي وَهوَ مَملوءٌ فَقُلتُ لَهُ
مِمّا فَقالَ مِنَ الحَسراتِ واحَرَبا
It returned to me full, so I said to it:
