أَنكَرَ النيلُ مَوقِفَ الخَزّانِ

فَاِنثَنى قافِلاً إِلى السودانِ

The Nile denied the stopper's stance

So it turned away, returning to Sudan

راعَهُ أَن يَرى عَلى جانِبَيهِ

رَصَداً مِن مَكايِدِ الإِنسانِ

It was wary that on its banks it would see

A blockade of man's machinations
