Turn away your cups from the likeness of the lost,

For this is not a day of ease or return.

O cupbearer, I see that I have settled for

The water of tears instead of grape water.

And I spend the night finding rest when

The voice of the wailers, not the voice of singers, splits it.

So withhold joy, I will not partake of it,

And tell the love from me the solace of love.

Then go on, and leave me be, I am a man

Whose affair has turned to anxiety and sleeplessness.

After Uthman do I seek fine life's delight

    And fortune not diminished?

It saddens me that the caller of death came seeking him

    While I am not sought.

The meteors compete with you in glory

On a ground you were hidden in, O youth of generosity.

Had the prophets not preceded you in it

We would have said you were the best endowed with it.

The wind wished, if it were subjugated,

To carry your bier from the towering heights.

And the sun, if it descended from its horizon

And chose with you the abode of desolation and wilderness.

The morning wished, if they had marched,

To drape this absence in its own raiment.

O traveler, events made you great, and you did not make them,

    In gentleness and force.

You cried until even the lofty and bestowals, and the

Tears of sorrow did not dry upon you.

Your family and all the companions spent the night

    Mourning you, grieved and drenched.

They weep for the loss of a man inclined

To good, examining mankind, praised among people.

O clan of Abaza, still the dwellings

Are horizons for buds and a forest for lions.

May God not decree after this day exposure

Except joy upon honor and eternity.

And God made great your reward in Uthman

In God's mercy he spent the night, excellent, buried.
