سَأَلتُهُ ما لِهَذا الخالِ مُنفَرِداً
وَاِختارَ غُرَّتَكَ الغَرّا لَهُ سَكَنا
I asked him why this mole chose to live alone,
And picked your tender cheek as his home.
أَجابَني خافَ مِن سَهمِ الجُفونِ وَمِن
نارِ الخُدودِ لِهَذا هاجَرَ الوَطَنا
He told me he fled his homeland in fear
Of the arrows of eyelids and flaming cheeks here.
