وَرَكبٍ كَأَنَّ الريحَ تَطلُبُ عِندَهُم
لَها تِرَةً مِن جَذبِها بِالعَصائِبِ
And they ride as if the wind seeks refuge with them
It has a string from its pulling of the turbans
يَغُضّونَ أَطرافَ العِصِيِّ كَأَنَّها
تُخَزِّمُ بِالأَطرافِ شَوكَ العَقارِبِ
They bend the ends of the staffs as if they
Sting with the ends the thorns of scorpions
سَرَوا يَخبِطونَ اللَيلَ وَهيَ تَلُفُّهُم
عَلى شُعَبِ الأَكوارِ مِن كُلِّ جانِبِ
They wandered hitting the night and it envelops them
On the roads of the lands from every side
إِذا ما رَأوا ناراً يَقولونَ لَيتَها
وَقَد خَصِرَت أَيديهِمُ نارُ غالِبِ
When they see a fire they say if only it
And their hands have been girded by the fire of the victor
إِلى نارِ ضَرّابِ العَراقيبِ لَم يَزَل
لَهُ مِن ذُبابَي سَيفِهِ خَيرُ حالِبِ
To the fire of the kindler of embers he did not cease
To have from the flies of his sword the best dogs
تَدُرُّ بِهِ الأَنساءُ في لَيلَةِ الصَبا
وَتَنتَفِخُ اللَباتُ عِندَ التَرائِبِ
The young women circle around it on the night of dissociation
And the flames swell at the cooking pots
