إِذا تَقاعَسَ صَعبٌ في خِزامَتِهِ

أَو إِن تَعَرَّضَ في خَيشومِهِ صَيَدُ

If the going gets tough in his den,

Or if he faces prey with his snout,

رُضناهُ حَتّى يَرُدَّ القَسرُ أَوَّلَهُ

كَما اِستَمَرَّ بِكَفِّ القاتِلِ المَسَدُ

We appease him until the hardship passes,

As it continued with the palm of the killer armed

فَلا تَكونَن كَمَن تَغذو بِدِرَّتِها

أَولادَ أُخرى وَلا يَبقى لَها وَلَدُ

So be not like one who feeds with her riches

Other's children while hers are left none

إِن تُجمِعوا أَمرَكُم تَصلُح خِلافَتَكُم

وَفي الجَماعَةِ ما يَستَمسِكُ العَمَدُ

If you unite your affairs your caliphate will prosper

And in unity lies that which holds the pillars together
