My she-camel stood at the Numayri's door

Yearning for some of what she didn't get

If you were from Qays' sons she would have

Brought to you the waft of Ya'malat's breeze

But he is from the lineage of disheveled black Sawda

A Numayri milkmaid in the dough kneading

So I said, having no hope for Ibn Hanzala's grace:

When has the lord of abandoned dwellings been veiled?

You didn't ask for watering like Ju'ala

Or Mutlanfi', a huge-humped camel with matted hair
