ذَكَرتُ داوُودَ وَالأَشرافُ قَد حَضَروا

بابَ الأَميرِ فَفاضَ الدَمعُ وَاِنحَدَرا

I remembered David while the nobles were present

At the prince's door, so tears overflowed and descended

اللَهُ يَعلَمُ وَالأَقوامُ قَد عَلِموا

أَنَّ الصَعاليكَ أَمسى جَدُّهُم عَثَرا

God knows and the people have known
