Wa’il’s two mountains tottered after Malik’s passing.
And the nose of its glory was left cut off.
Where, then, is Abu Ghassan for the neighbor and hospitality,
And for war, if the spears are brandished and then quiver?
He has indeed departed, never outstripped in vengeance, and he left
No path untrodden toward glory’s farthest mark.
