Sol 6.1

  1. Whoever asks about Qays ibn ʿAylān—

    then in Ghaṭafān lie the glory of Qays and its finest men.

  2. Its two mainstays are theirs, and the horsemen are from among them;

    and its daring warrior is one of them, and among them are its seas.

  3. Whenever an onslaught assailed Qays ibn ʿAylān,

    all-engulfing, its affairs passed into your hands.

  4. And whoever seeks what was striven for or built for you

    by Sukayn is raised to the sun by its light.

  5. Did you not know that a great conflict is stirred up

    in war by a small one, at the hands of the misguided?
