جادَ الدِيارَ الَّتي بِالرَمسِ خالِيَةً
أَنواءُ أَوطَفَ جَرّارِ العَثانينِ
May the deserted dwellings at al-Rams be lavishly watered
By the rains of a shaggy cloud, trailing beards of rain.
وَما بِها بَعدَ آثارِ الحَلالِ بِها
غَيرُ الرَمادِ وَغَيرُ المُثَّلِ الجونِ
And there, after the traces of those who dwelt there, nothing remains
But ashes and black, upright hearthstones.
أَنا اِبنُ ضَبَّةَ تَنميني مَعاقِلُها
وَمِن بَني دارِمٍ شُمِّ العَرانينِ
I am a son of Dabba; her strongholds attest my lineage,
And of the sons of Darim, lofty of nose.
