إِذا أَثفَروا كُلَّ خَفّاقَةٍ

وَرَدنَ بِهِم أَحَدَ الأَثمُدِ

If they unsheathe every unsheathed sword

And charge at them in one of the valleys

بِأَخيَلَ مِنهُم إِذا زَيَّنوا

بِمَغرَتِهِم حاجِبَي مُؤجَدِ

With their horses when they are adorned

With their foreheads that straighten frowning brows

حِمارٌ لَهُم مِن بَناتِ الكُدا

دِ يُدَهمِجُ بِالوَطبِ وَالمِزوَدِ

They have a donkey from the daughters of Kuda

That brays with fodder and provisions

فَهَذا سِبابي لَكُم فَاِصبُروا

عَلى الناقِراتِ وَلَم أَعتَدِ

So this is my insult to you, so be patient

With the faultfinders, and I did not transgress

إِذا ما اِجتَدَعتُ أُنوفَ اللِئا

مِ عَفَرتُ الخُدودَ إِلى الجَدجَدِ

When I make the noses of the vile bleed

I soil the cheeks to the chin

يَغورُ بِأَعناقِها الغائِرو

نَ وَيَخبِطنَ نَجداً مَعَ المُنجِدِ

They sink with their sunken necks

And they flounder with ardour and verve

وَكانَ جَريرٌ عَلى قَومِهِ

كَبَكرِ ثَمودٍ لَها الأَنكَدِ

And Jarir was to his people

Like Bakr was to Thamud who possessed intensity

رَغا رَغوَةً بِمَناياهُمُ

فَصاروا رَماداً مَعَ الرِمدَدِ

He bubbled with their demise

And they became ashes with embers

وَتَربُقُ بِاللُؤمِ أَعناقَها

بِأَرباقِ لُؤمِهِمِ الأَتلَدِ

And they are adorned with the vices’ collars

With the collars of their abundant vices

إِلى مَقعَدٍ كَمَبيتِ الكِلا

بِ قَصيرٍ جَوانِبُهُ مُبلِدِ

To a sitting place like the sitting place of Kila

يُواري كُلَيباً إِذا اِستَجمَعَت

وَيَعجِزُ عَن مَجلِسِ المُقعَدِ

It hides every Kulaib when they gather
