وَأَنتَ لِلناسِ نورٌ يُستَضاءُ بِهِ

كَما أَضاءَ لَنا في الظُلمَةِ اللَهَبُ

You are a light for people, illuminated by you,

As the flame lit for us in the darkness.

أَلا تَرى الناسَ ما سَكَّنتَهُم سَكَنوا

وَإِن غَضِبتَ أَزالَ الإِمَّةَ الغَضَبُ

Don't you see people, how settled they became when you settled them,

And if you get angry, anger removes the nation.

جاءَت بِهِ حُرَّةٌ كَالشَمسِ طالِعَةً

لِلبَدرِ شيمَتُها الإِسلامُ وَالحَسَبُ

She came free like the rising sun,

For the full moon, her qualities are Islam and nobility.

كَم مِن رَئيسٍ فَلى بِالسَيفِ هامَتَهُ

كَأَنَّهُ حينَ وَلّى مُدبِراً خَرَبُ

How many chieftains have fled with their skull split by the sword,

As if when they fled defeated, they were in ruins.
