1. رُوَيدَ عَنِ الأَمرَ الَّذي كُنتَ جاهِلاً

    بِأَسبابِهِ حَتّى تَغِبَّ عَواقِبُه

    Be gentle about the matter of which you were ignorant

    Of its reasons until its consequences fade away

  2. لَعَلَّ حِمى الدَهنا يَضيقُ بِراكِبٍ

    إِذا ما غَدا أَو راحَ تَسري رَكايِبُه

    Perhaps the world becomes too narrow for a rider

    When he sets out or returns with his mounts

  3. أَرى زَهدَماً لا يَستَطيعُ فَعالَهُ

    لَئيمٌ وَلا الكَسبَ الَّذي هُوَ كاسِبُه

    I see an ascetic who cannot do his asceticism

    Wretched, nor the earning which he earns
