1. إِنَّ بُغائي لِلَّذي إِن أَرادَني

    مَكانَ الثُرَيّا إِن تَأَمَّلَها البَصَر

    My enmity is for he who, if he wished me

    To take the place of al-Suriyya, the eye would see me there

  2. وَإِنّي الَّذي لا يَبحَثُ السِرَّ وَحدَهُ

    إِذا كانَ غَيري مَن يَدُبُّ إِلى الخَمَر

    Yet I, who does not pry into secrets on my own

    When another creeps to the wine, I join him there

  3. أَنا اِبنُ الَّذي أَحيا الوَئيدَ وَلَم أَزَل

    أَحُلُّ بِهاماتِ اللَهاميمِ مِن مُضَر

    I am the son of him who revived al-Wa'eed and I will not cease

    To solve the riddles of fate however grave they are
