1. لَو أَنَّ قِدراً بَكَت مِن طولِ ما حُبِسَت

    عَلى الحُفوفِ بَكَت قِدرُ اِبنِ جَيّارِ

    If a pot could weep from being locked away

    For so long on the shelves, the pot of Ibn Jayyar

  2. ما مَسَّها دَسَمٌ مُذ فُضَّ مَعدِنُها

    وَلا رَأَت بَعدَ عَهدِ القَينِ مِن نارِ

    Would weep. No fat has touched it since its ore was cast,

    Nor has it seen fire since the days of the oven stirrer.
