أَلِكني إِلى قُطبِ الرَحا إِن لَقيتَهُ

وَقُطبُ الرَحا نائي العَشيرَةِ أَجنَبُ

Take me to the pole of comfort, if you find it,

And the pole of comfort is far from my tribe, a stranger,

فَهَل أَنتَ ساعٍ في سَواءَةَ لِاِمرِئٍ

أَرَتهُ بِعَينَيها المَنِيَّةَ زَينَبُ

So are you striving for the equality of a man

Whom fate showed its eyes, Zainab?

سُوائِيَةٌ لَم تَرمِ عَن حَفَضٍ لَها

غُراباً وَلَم تَبكُر عَلى الحَيِّ تَصحَبُ

An equalizer who did not pelt a raven

And did not come early to the living to accompany,

إِذا اِكتَفَلَت بِالعُرفَتَينِ وَدونَها

بَنو أَسَدٍ لَم يُدرَ مِن أَينَ تُطلَبُ

When she wrapped herself in the two loincloths and beneath them

The sons of Asad, it was not known where she was sought.
