A verse by Mas'ud son of Qays son of Khalid
That verse which others mention, not fading
A verse by Mafruq son of 'Amr and Han'i
Lofty of the highest peaks, rumbling of the lowest valleys
A verse by Abu Qabus of the polished sword
Who built a house of glory, its foundation unshakable
A verse by Ruwaim, of nobility and highest rank
Rising with glory above the seller of virtues
A verse by 'Imran son of Murrah, indeed it
Dazzles all people in gatherings
These are houses that granted you the heights
Thus you dwelled atop, foremost of abodes
You shunned the disgrace of lowliness, free men of Persia
And feared not amidst them the obscure warriors
Those of petty envy feared you when you tread
Upon the necks of foes, the march of the burdened
