أَلا إِنَّ اللِئامَ بَني كُلَيبٍ

شِرارُ الناسِ مِن حَضَرٍ وَبادِ

Alas! The despicable Bani Kulaib

Are the worst of people, settled or nomad

قُبَيِّلَةٌ تَقاعَسُ في المَخازي

عَلى أَطنابِ مُكرَبَةِ العِمادِ

A tribe that dwells lazily in tents

Leaning on elaborately decorated pillars

بِأَرباقِ الحَميرِ مُقَوِّدوها

وَما يَدرونَ ما قودُ الجِيادِ

With the ropes of donkeys leading them

Not knowing the lead of steeds
