1. أُبادِرُ شَوّالاً بِظَبيَةَ إِنَّني

    أَتَتني بِها الأَهواءُ مِن كُلِّ جانِبِ

    I hasten to Shawwal with a gazelle

    The winds have brought her to me from all directions

  2. بِمالِئَةِ الحِجلَينِ لَو أَنَّ مَيِّتاً

    وَإِن كانَ في الأَكفانِ تَحتَ النَصائِبِ

    With her thighs fully fleshed, if she called a dead man -

    Even if he were in his shroud beneath the tombstones -

  3. دَعَتهُ لِأَلقى التُربَ عَنهُ اِنتِفاضَهُ

    وَلَو كانَ تَحتَ الراسِياتِ الرَواسِبِ

    He would shake off the dust to go to her

    Even if he were beneath firmly lodged stones.
