I stood still as a house of my tribe made me weep
Over the crying women in mourning
They went out in the morning like Indian swords and well-knitted coats of mail
Against death, and their death brought them to their fate
The horsemen protected a harem and guarded
The house of death and spear-fight fiercely
As if they went out under the awnings
To death, the roaring lions of the thicket
Had Salma undergone our grief
She would have collapsed, but `Amir endures grief
