If Qais turn their backs in the morning

My anger towards them will surely grow

For I am set on attacking Qais with arrows

Though they bitterly assail me with insults

Say to Qais, Qais of 'Ailan, avoid

My seas when the waves swell and surge

We have a roaring sea at Khindif

Which rages when the heavens pour

We have two rocks at the House

And its direction of prayer from all quarters

Did not the Lord of each tribe come from us?

When the tribe's protector is pelted with pebbles

We have a Shihab whose whiteness flashes

When its vultures flutter over us one day

You see people fleeing towards us

When it brandishes its wings around the quarters

You see every house dependent on our houses

When their domes are struck on both sides

When Qais wear clothes, you hear them

Glorifying from the coarseness of their clothes

Amer took from Qais of 'Ailan

    Possessions their dogs had collected

If my seas frighten Ma'add's pastures

Indeed Luqman ibn 'Ad used to fear them

Your father was busy with pregnant she-camels

Their udders swelling and being milked

Are you anything but a slave of Watb and 'Ulbah

Who bleats when the prophets bleat their udders?

Have you not seen the land complain

To Allah of the foul dust of Dukhan's sons?

I made a curse from Allah descend upon Qais

Its torment will not leave them
