لَحى اللَهُ قَوماً شارَكوا في دِمائِنا

وَكُنّا لَهُم عَوناً عَلى العَثَراتِ

God curse a people who shared in shedding our blood

And we were to them a support in stumbling

فَجاهَرَنا ذو الغُشِّ عَمروُ بنُ مُسلِمٍ

وَأَوقَدَ ناراً صاحِبُ البَكَراتِ

So the deceitful Amr ibn Muslim confronted us openly

And the owner of camels kindled a fire
