    Abu Malik visited the graves

Despite the enemies and their strings

    And Al-Farazdaq instructed upon death

    Umm Jareer and her spears

A tribe like the leather shield

    Whose affairs cannot be undone

They are wronged but do not wrong

When al-Ees are tied with ropes

And they do not prevent their forgetfulness

When war prowls with its claws

    But the laggards are scoundrels

Like the motes behind the dust.

I censured Kulaib though she did not deny

Like the censure of childbirth with its dust.
