By my life! Indeed Ibn Ahawz led a battalion

By which Islam's every path was humiliated

You bent the stallions of the men of Wasit

And every swift-running of the wager

Swords which, when the caller calls out, are like

The dogs of Sulouq that bark

We made their heads and bodies between our spearheads

    Flaming bodies full of gashes

With every shining crescent moon and magnificent one

Having an aversion from a prominent one and lightning

And flaming ones led by the champions of strife

We gored so they were left without skulls
