إِذا هَرَّتِ الأَحياءُ حَرباً مُضِرَّةً

تَرى السُمَّ مِن أَنيابِها يَتَقَطَّرُ

When vicious creatures make war,

You'll see their poison dripping from their fangs.

غَدا في مَحانيها اِبنُ أَحوَزَ غَدوَةً

تُفَرِّجُ عَنهُ وَالأَسِنَّةُ تَخطِرُ

Tomorrow the son of Uhud will march at dawn

To relieve them, though swords will clash and clang.

أَقامَ عَلى حَيِّ المَزونِ قِيامَةً

مِنَ المَوتِ إِلّا أَنَّها هِيَ أَشهَرُ

He'll wreak havoc on the army of disbelief

With a massacre more famous than Death’s own.

وَقَد ضاقَ ذَرعاً مُصطَلوها بِحَرِّها

وَعادَت جَحيماً نارَها تَتَسَعَّرُ

Their protector will tire of their endless mischief;

Their fire will flare up and engulf them alone.
