دَعاني جَريرُ بنُ المُراغَةِ بَعدَما
لَعِبنَ بِنَجدٍ وَالمَلا كُلَّ مَلعَبِ
Jarir, son of al-Murāgha, called me after
Jarir ibn al-Murghah invited me, after
they had played in Najd and al-Malā, on every playing ground.
We had played in Najd and al-Mala' every playground,
فَقُلتُ لَهُ دَعني وَتَيماً فَإِنَّني
وَأُمِّكَ قَد جَرَّبتُ ما لَم تُجَرِّبِ
So I told him, “Leave me with Taym, for I—
So I said to him, "Leave me alone, O Taym, for verily
by your mother—have experienced what you have not.”
I and your mother have tried what you have not tried."
