Malik has neglected al-Juʿayda’s offspring:
Malik has squandered the wealth of the Ju'aydah,
scattered herds, some too weak to rise and others exhausted.
Of it khanaatil remain, and some razim and hasir.
You will learn what good the propped-up wine jars can do—
You will know what good the roarings will do -
with their rumbling beside the tent ropes—
Attached to their thresholds the houses' uproar -
for the camels, when they came gaunt and utterly spent,
About the camels, when they came as corpses,
if linseed oil and pressed juice are not sold for their sake.
If no onions or juice were sold for them.
