The swords of the sons of Tamim have indeed relieved
The swords of Bani Tamim have cleared
the Basran of the tight constriction at his throat,
The neck of Basri, tightly squeezed,
on the morning he called, with none to aid him,
The day he called with no helper around
when souls had already leapt to the collarbones.
While souls hastened to escape.
Malik and the armored warriors of Amr came to him
Malik and warriors of Amr came to him
on lean-bellied, marked, noble-bred steeds,
With polished helmets and coats of mail,
with blows that send necks flying,
Striking blows making skulls rattle
and spear-thrusts like the mouths of braying asses.
And stabbing like the mouths of she-camels.
