ذلِكَ اليَومُ كَيفَ كانَ وصارا

كانَ بَرداً وَصارَ قاراً وَنارا

That day, how it was and what it became

It was cold and became boiling and fire

قُلتِ إِذ جَنَّدَت شَرائِعَها الأَر

ضُ عَلَينا لَن يَبلُغوا الأَوطارا

You said, when the laws marshalled the earth against us

They will not reach the goals

فَالنَعيمُ الَّذي خَلَقناهُ فينا

وَسَقَتهُ السَماءُ لَن يَتَوارى

So the bliss that we created in ourselves

And the sky watered, will not disappear

إِن يَكُن جاءَ من جَهَنَّ خَطبٌ

فَلِكَي يَخبُرَ الهَوى الجَبّارا

If it came from the fires of hell a suitor

To inform passion the mighty

يا حَبيبي سَيَملَأ الحُبُّ سجني

فَليَشيدوا الحُصونَ وَالأَسوارا

My love, love will fill my prison

So let them erect fortresses and walls

وَسَأبينكَ فيهِ جسماً وَروحاً

وَحَناناً وَعِفَّةً وَوَقارا

And I will show you in it a body and a soul

And tenderness, chastity and dignity

أَبِوَسعِ السُجونِ أَنَّ تحرُمَ القَل

بَ رؤاهُ وَتَحجُبَ التَذكار

O prisons, forbid the heart to see him

And obscure remembrance

سَأُنادي في عُزلَتي كُلَّ غَيمٍ

كُلَّ عِطرٍ سَرى وَطَيرٍ طارا

I will call out in my isolation every cloud

Every fragrance that blew, and every bird that flew

خَبِّري الأَرضَ يا عطورُ وَيا غَي

مُ وَيا طَيرُ وَاِنشُري الأَسرارا

Inform the earth, O fragrances and O clouds

And O birds, and spread the secrets

خَبِّريها أَنّي أُحِبُّ حَبيبي

خَبِّريها أَنّي أُحِبُّ جَهارا

Inform it that I love my beloved

Inform it that I love openly

خَبِّري الأَرضَ خَبِّريها وَقولي

إِنَّ كوخاً أَشدُّ مِنها جدارا

Inform the earth, inform it, and say

That a hut stronger than it is its wall

إِنَّ بَيتاً عَلى الجَمالِ بَنينا

هُ لِتَأبى السَماءُ أَن يَنهارا

That a house of beauty we built

It refuses the sky to collapse

يا حَبيبي كَما حييتُ سَأَحيا

إِنَّ بي عِرقٌ يُحرِّقُ الأَبصارا

My love, as I lived I will live

In me is an artery burning the sights

وَعَلى كُلِّ شَفرَةٍ من جُفوني

مِنكَ عِرقٌ يُحرِّقُ الأَبصارا

And on each eyelash of mine

From you is an artery burning the sights

كُلَّما غَرَّقَ الظَلامُ عُيوني

أَطلَعَ الحُبُّ في دَمي أَنوارا

Whenever darkness drowned my eyes

Love emerged in my blood lights
