The voice of beautiful Syria,
Your sweet, melodious voice,
Laughing like a lush garden,
Playful like the breeze.
O brother of the dove, sing!
For singing is the poetry of the heavens;
It is a swaying in the branch,
And it is splendor in the star.
The voice of beautiful Syria,
Your sweet, melodious voice,
Laughing like a lush garden,
Playful like the breeze.
Sing to us until we sway,
Like the branches of the Arak tree;
How many among us are love-sick sufferers,
Whom none can heal but you.
The voice of beautiful Syria,
Your sweet, melodious voice,
Laughing like a lush garden,
Playful like the breeze.
O sorrowful one, come forth,
And listen today to the canary,
Warbling a soulful, rhythmic tune,
Reminiscing of those homelands.
The voice of beautiful Syria,
Your sweet, melodious voice,
Laughing like a lush garden,
Playful like the breeze.
Would that we were birds,
Around a spring or a stream,
Sipping the pure, fresh water,
Picking up the scattered grain.
The voice of beautiful Syria,
Your sweet, melodious voice,
Laughing like a lush garden,
Playful like the breeze.
A homeland whose plains we love,
Just as we love its hills;
The zephyr winds there are soft and languid,
Healing themselves with its dew.
How often the full moon appeared laughing,
Dancing above the vineyards,
And the night ascended as a king,
Wearing a crown of stars.
The voice of beautiful Syria,
Your sweet, melodious voice,
Laughing like a lush garden,
Playful like the breeze.
